About
Michelle first went public with her artwork in 2002, exhibiting with Echo Gallery in Chicago in a group exhibit for Halloween. The following year, various pieces were licensed for the cover art of the band Cadaveria in Italy, and work was exhibited with the Art Coop in St Louis, Missouri. Some digital paintings were selected for a Taschen publication.
After taking a break in 2004 to work on more pieces, while working as a photo lab technician, she exhibited again with Echo Gallery in Chicago, Duncan McAshan Gallery in Ingram, Texas, Venus Envy in St Louis, 3rd Floor Gallery twice, also in St Louis. The initial exhibit was a group show which lead to her first solo exhibit with the same gallery. It was for the solo exhibit that the Savage Tarot and The Sevens were created. The River Front Times gave this show an exciting review by one critic, and another who was less impressed. Michelle also had work shown at the Armageddon Ball in St Louis. She had two digital exhibitions with the October edition of 0pi8, as well as Issue 06 of Spartan Dog. 2005 was a successful year, as she also created work for the bands Kultur and Torsion for their album covers. Later that year, she was commissioned twice to do private paintings. Michelle was also invited to the Florence Biennale, which she graciously declined. Finally, she worked as a commercial photographer’s assistant periodically throughout the year.
2006 was spent focused on straight photography work, except for a small show at Floored Dance Studio in St Louis. Again, Michelle received an invitation to the Florence Biennale, and again declined.
In 2007, Michelle enrolled in college for her BFA in photography, which is still in progress. Her photography work continues to grow and mature. During this year, she was hired to photograph two weddings and a performance. Most of her time however, was spent in the darkroom, exploring methods to mimic her digital photo montage style with film.
In 2008, Michelle exhibited select artworks for the Women on the Move group exhibit at Gallery Visio in St Louis.
2009 was a year for the Savage Tarot to be revived somewhat at Koken Art Factory in St Louis. Later that year, Michelle began working with the campus newspaper as an Assistant Photo Editor, and was promoted to Photo Editor the following semester. She created a new personal project out of her love of nature, which is to visit and photograph every state park in Missouri and eventually go beyond. For her cause, she created a photo blog to document her experiences.
In 2010, she left the newspaper and began working with Gallery 210 in St Louis, as a Gallery Assistant, where she now works.
Michelle prefers shooting with black and white 120 film, but uses a DSLR for most projects.
